Empowerment for Women & Youth Initiatives (EWYI)/Straw Bank Project
This has been an inception project for CommunityAID since its initiation, it entails employing policies strategies and approaches to harnessing the social and economic prospects as well as potential of women and youth in communities. CommunityAID as an asset-based approach organization has been actively empowering community women and youth in areas found to be portentous in eradicating poverty while maintain sustainable livelihood and economic independence of women. Through the empowerment for women and youth initiatives, beneficiaries through awareness activities have been encouraged and subtly involved in handicrafts training, advocacy on participation or involvement in community affairs and decision-making. The priority of EWYI is to improve structures particularly economic attributes of the rural woman giving them the opportunities to access global market, enhancing productions and sustainability through frequent orders for produce, fair trade practices for sustainable income distribution and avoidance of exploitation and innovation skill training to meet market demands. EWYI is to, further, awaken women in the eminent necessity for active participation in local assembly and leadership roles in communities. The project engages local authorities including traditional leadership, assemblies and associations in training programs for women in leadership, awareness and advocacy campaign for women in local positions, capacity building for assemblies, CSO, women and other etc
